The New Camper

It's official - we've become those people. You know, the people that drive down the interstate 10 MPH under the posted speed limit pulling a camper that everyone cusses at as they try to pass them. I'm not really sure how it happened as we really hadn't planned on getting a new camper. We just got rid of the old pop-up about a month ago to the teenage stoner dude who was going to go on some "amazing trips dude" and really didn't give a new one much thought until we discussed what we would be doing for the 4th of July holiday weekend. The next thing I know, I was at Outlet Recreation envisioning myself and my husband traveling around the country pulling this awesome new Gulf Stream Visa. After about three days of deliberation, we decided to take the plunge.

As I already stated, this whole adventure began with plans for Independence Day. We decided the best way to break in the new Visa would be to take it someplace that would allow us to check out all the bells and whistles, but still be near civilization just in case something went horribly wrong. We ended up in my brother's backyard in Walhalla, ND hooked up to the garden hose with an extension cord running to the shed.

The weekend ended up being a hot one, with temperatures in the mid 90s by Monday afternoon. However, the air conditioning in the new camper kept us cool and reminded us why we decided to buy one in the first place. We had a few other family members staying with my brother that weekend as well so we were able to share good food and great conversation leading to a very enjoyable weekend. The only minor problem with the trip (which could have been a major problem without the use of my brother's shop vac) was the leak coming from the loosened hoses going to the fresh water supply tank that caused a minor flood in the bedroom area.

All in all, the first trip in the Hazy-Waters Mobile Resort (as my husband calls it) was a success. I look forward to our next adventure and also look forward to your comments and suggestions for future adventures.
